Hi! I’m Jo
I live in Otley in North Leeds in beautiful Yorkshire with my family and black Labrador Teddy (who is literally the biggest Labrador I’ve ever seen, he just kept growing).
My journey into floristry was not a straight forward one. Despite training to be a florist in my 20’s at Leeds Art College I spent a 20 year career in the corporate world.
In 2021 I picked up floristry again, I missed being creative and once I enrolled at flower school again I was totally hooked! Heather and Moss was created, inspired by the heather and moss of the Yorkshire Moors, which I am lucky enough to have on my doorstep.
My style is unstructured, I like the randomness of nature and I’m really drawn to scent and how it can affect our moods and memory. When I’m creating flowers for an important life moment, whether that is a wedding, anniversary, welcoming a baby or creating the last gift for someone for a funeral I want those flowers to be personal to the individual and I want the scent and colour to bring joy or comfort.
I use only the best quality flowers and I source local flowers and foliage where I can. I work with the seasons which allows me to use British flowers from small growers, supporting other small businesses. I love that flowers are around us at all of our important life events and enjoy making beautiful arrangements for yours.
